Subject:Notice of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on issuing the Interim Regulations on the Radio Management of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Equipment
Content: Ministry of Industry and Information Technology No. 77 (2024)
Relevant industrial and information technology authorities of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, radio regulatory agencies of Qinghai and Ningxia, radio regulatory agencies of relevant departments under The State Council, China Telecom Group Co., LTD., China Mobile Communications Group Co., LTD., China United Network Communications Group Co., LTD., China Radio and Television Network Group Co., LTD. :
The Interim Regulations on Radio Management of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Equipment are hereby issued to you, please follow them carefully.
Interim provisions on Radio Management of ultra-wideband (UWB) equipment
Article 1 In order to promote the development of the radio industry, strengthen the management of ultra-wideband (UWB) equipment, improve the efficiency of spectrum use, maintain the order of air waves, and ensure the frequency compatibility and sharing of ultra-wideband (UWB) equipment with other radio systems, These provisions are formulated in accordance with the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Radio Administration, the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Division of Radio Frequencies, and the Regulations on the Administration of Radio Transmission Equipment.
Article 2 The term "ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment" as mentioned in these Provisions refers to radio transmitting equipment with a transmitting signal bandwidth (-10dB bandwidth) of not less than 500MHz, which is mainly used in short-range high-speed wireless data communication, positioning, ranging, sensing and other fields, with a frequency of 7163-8812MHz.
These provisions shall apply to the development, production, import, sale and use of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment.
Article 3 Ultra wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment produced or imported for domestic sale and use shall meet the "Technical requirements for Ultra wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment" (see annex), and apply to the national radio regulatory authority for radio transmitting equipment type approval.
Article 4 The setting up and use of UWB radio transmitting equipment shall be governed by the ground public mobile communication terminal, without the need to obtain a radio station license.
Article 5 The use of ultra-wide band (UWB) radio transmission equipment shall not cause harmful interference to other lawful radio stations (stations), nor shall it put forward protection requirements from harmful interference, such as harmful interference to other lawful radio stations (stations), shall immediately stop use, and can continue to use after taking measures to eliminate harmful interference.
Article 6 The use of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment is prohibited within 1 km of the site of a radio observatory.
Article 7 The use of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmitting equipment on aircraft (including unmanned aircraft) is prohibited.
Article 8 The radio regulatory authority shall strengthen the supervision and inspection of the production, import, sale and use of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmission equipment, and shall order those who violate the relevant provisions of radio administration to make corrections and deal with them according to law.
Article 9 According to the situation of industrial development and technological progress, the relevant contents of these provisions shall be timely adjusted by the national radio regulatory authority.
Article 10 As of the date of implementation of these Provisions, the national radio regulatory authority will no longer accept and approve applications for the type approval of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmission equipment that does not meet the technical requirements listed in these Provisions, and ultra-wideband (UWB) radio transmission equipment that has obtained the type approval certificate may continue to be sold and used until scrapped.
Article 11 These provisions shall come into effect as of August 1, 2025, and the original Notice on the Use of Ultra-wideband (UWB) Technical Frequency Regulations (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology No. (2008) 354) shall be repealed at the same time.
