Recently, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Lebanon issued Decision No. 3/2026, introducing amendments to the Equipment Type Approval Regulation under Decision No. 5/2009. The decision modernizes the regulatory framework by updating equipment classifications and technical requirements in line with current radio and telecommunications technologies. 

The amended regulation expands coverage to include GSM (2G), 4G, and 5G technologies, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, IoT, and eSIM-enabled devices, while maintaining provisions for legacy and specialized equipment such as cordless telephones, amateur radio devices, drones, wireless microphones, and surveillance cameras.
