NBTC has announced a notification to terminate type approval and importation for 2G and 3G only equipment.

Summary of NBTC announcement regarding terminate type approval and importation for 2G and 3G only equipment:
Announcement date: 9 June 2025
Effective date: 30 June 2025

1. NBTC will issue type approval certificate (i.e. class B) for 2G and 3G only equipment only up to 30 June 2025. After this date, type approval certificate will not be issued for 2G and 3G only equipment anymore.
2. NBTC will allow importation of 2G and 3G only equipment only up to 30 June 2025.
3. NBTC will stop authorization for self-labeling and label purchase for 2G and 3G only equipment on 30 June 2025.

Additional notes:
- In case of equipment with 2G/3G together with other cellular technology e.g. 4G/5G, NBTC will still continue to issue type approval certificate as usual.
- Previously certified 2G/3G only equipment in Thai market or at Thai users can still be sold/used in market. The announcement is only effective to new model or products to be imported after effective date.
