Customs Union New Technical Regulation "Energy Efficiency for Energy Consuming Devices" to be Effective on 1st September 2021

Following Eurasian Commission meeting on 24th of December 2019, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission published Decision #114. This regulation confirms that the new technical regulation "On Energy Efficiency for energy consuming devices" (EAEC TR 048/2019) is to come into force on 1st September 2021 and was developed to track energy efficiency of devices used within the Eurasian Economic Union. Approvals will be conducted in the form of Certification or Declaration.

Products which will fall under Certification scope of the new Regulation include (but are not limited to):

1. Lighting equipment

2. Computers and servers

Products which will fall under Declaration scope of the new Regulation include (but are not limited to):

1. Domestic appliances

2. TVs

3. Power sources

All products will still be required to be labelled with the existing CU conformity mark. Additionally, supplementary EAC Energy Efficiency labelling is currently being designed.
